Tokyo - Kanto

Not really being city lovers, and promising ourselves we'd never live in a large city again, we found ourselves moving to Tokyo at the end of the '90s and thoroughly enjoyed a decade of life here before returning to areas of abundant nature & quiet! One of our favourite visual delights of Tokyo include seeing the sunset from the panoramic deck of the Mori Building in Roppongi. On a clear Winter's day, you can see Mount Fuji clearly in the distance, all the way to Shizuoka.

Tokyo is a vast and fascinating city to explore, with a rich variety of things to see in this huge metropolis without a "city center". It features many centres!

If you enjoy meandering through the shopping districts, a walk through Omote Sando and exploring the back roads toward Shibuya is recommended. Just be mindful with car parking in Tokyo. It can be expensive. It's not unheard of to pay USD 250 (Equivalent) for a day's car park fees in the centre of Ginza, but if you shop around, you'll find much cheaper spots.

There is much to do and Tokyo is a city that definitely never sleeps.

From watching the sun set over Tokyo and the lights of the night illuminate the city, to seeing the many musical & dance shows at night.

Or visiting the old Tsukiji fish market, where the Sushi Zanmai chain of restaurants still serve some of the best sushi Tokyo has to offer during all hours of the day or night.

If you're a foodie, we recommend consulting a wide variety of guides to choose your preferred gastronomic experience in Tokyo.

There are entire books about Tokyo and we wouldn't do justice to this fascinating city, just here. It's best to consult The Lonely Planet or other online guides.
